Pesaro seafront: the Pomodoro Sphere, Villino Ruggeri and the harbour

From the centre to the sea
From Nuovo Fiore, at Via Barignani 60, the sea is a few minutes away on foot or by bike: Ponente beach is about 800 m. The classic arrival point is Piazzale della Libertà, at the end of viale della Repubblica.
Arnaldo Pomodoro's Sfera Grande
On the square stands the "Ball", symbol of Pesaro. According to the Ministry of Culture it is a bronze made in 1998 by Arnaldo Pomodoro from the polyester model that arrived in Pesaro in 1971, and it belongs to the Municipality. At sunset it is the most photographed spot on the seafront.
Villino Ruggeri
On the same square stands Villino Ruggeri, an Art Nouveau villa built between 1902 and 1907 for the industrialist Oreste Ruggeri, with floral decorations on the façade. You admire it from outside.
Towards the harbour or towards Ponente
From here walk east to Levante and the harbour, or west along the beach to Ponente. The route is flat and fine for pushchairs. Read our guides for beaches and cycling.
